Child Therapy & Parent Coaching
At Birch Tree Psychology we treat preschool children and school age children.
We treat preschool children who have anxiety, depression, and aggressive behavior using play therapy and behavior therapy techniques. Children are assessed and treated through play, which makes treatment comfortable and fun for children. Early intervention often means that treatment is brief and issues do not become ingrained. Parents are an integral part of treatment at this stage.
Our team of child psychologists and psychotherapists specializes in treating anxiety in children, such as school phobias, separation anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety, and specific phobias (ie: needles, blood, animals, death). We create a comfortable environment that puts people at ease, which allows them to confront and overcome their greatest fears. Our staff has conducted research on Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and works with children to develop cognitive and behavioral strategies to manage their school performance. Additionally, we work with children who are depressed, oppositional, or are struggling to cope with loss or divorce.
We also offer Parent Coaching, which is an intervention designed to help parents who have children with challenging behaviors, intense emotions, or neurologically atypical children (sometimes called a “difficult child”) to develop effective parenting strategies to create harmony and peace in your family.
We have effective and successful strategies to help you and your child to manage difficult feelings and situations today. We can help!
