Adult Therapy
At Birch Tree Psychology, we provide individual therapy to adults. Our psychologists and psychotherapists specialize in helping adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. We understand the challenges of adult life and the complexities of balancing work and relationships. We also believe that self-care is essential to having a fulfilling life. We know that it can be difficult to prioritize your needs and make time for yourself, but we believe that you can best care for others after you care for yourself.
At times we all need help coping with the complexities of life. These times can be an opportunity to create change in ourselves, our relationships, and our lives. We believe that unresolved issues from our past contribute to our current emotions, thoughts, and relationships. Understanding how our past experiences have shaped who we are today allows us to understand why we react with our particular style and actively take control of our lives. With this depth of understanding, people are able to make lasting change which means a more fulfilling life.
Our areas of specialty in adult treatment are varied. More specifically, we treat phobias, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety, and specific phobias (ie: needles, blood, animals, death, flying). Additionally, we treat single episode depression, recurrent depression, postpartum-depression, coping with infertility, coping with difficulties related to parenting, and separation/divorce. Beyond that we support individuals who are experiencing life transitions, such as adjusting to parenthood, coping with “empty nest syndrome,” returning to after work after being a homemaker, dealing with and finding meaning in a new stage of life. We treat grief and loss to help individuals create meaning after losing a loved one.
